Wake Up The Electors & The Earth: This Saturday

This Saturday Jamaica Plain will Wake Up The Earth and JP Progressives begins to Wake Up The Electors, as we help re-elect two of Boston’s best City Councillors: At-Large City Councillor Ayanna Pressley, our Shero who earned the Gabby Giffords Rising Star Award, and Matt O’Malley, the best District City Councillor in the city.

Ayanna and Matt have consistently worked on issues we care about. As candidates whom we have previously supported, we want to ensure they can continue their work. We ask for your help putting Ayanna and Matt on the ballot by collecting signatures with us this weekend.

  • When: Saturday, May 2, any 1- to 2-hour shift between 12pm to 4pm.
  • Where: Wake Up The Earth Festival
  • How: Find the JP Progressives table on Nonprofit Row where you will receive training and papers!
  • Level of Difficulty: Easy
  • Sign Up For a Shift: Email Annie at revarousseau@comcast.net

Why:
Ayanna created and chairs the City Council’s Committee on Healthy Women, Families, and Communities. The Committee is devoted to stabilizing families and communities, reducing and preventing violence and trauma, combating poverty, and addressing issues that disproportionately impact women and girls.

Matt’s priorities are your priorities. Matt is dedicated to ensuring that all of Boston’s children have access to an excellent public education system. His goals also include improving public safety, supporting economic development and making Boston a greener city.

Note: The JP Progressives have not yet made endorsements in the City Council race, and will only do so after the field has been set, candidates have been heard, and members’ votes have been taken. Saturday’s activity is to get Matt and Ayanna into the race. As they are candidates whom we have previously endorsed, we welcome them on the ballot.Â
