Yes on #2. An Expanded Bottle Bill For a Better Environment.

This bill expands the beverage container deposit law to include water and juice bottles.

Currently, 80% of bottles and cans with a deposit on them are recycled, while only 23% of containers without a deposit are recycled. Container deposit laws are good for the environment, reduce litter, in- crease recycling, reduce municipal trash-collection costs, and encourage consumer responsibility.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the updated Bottle Bill will save $6.7 million a year on municipal budgets.

Among those lining up $5.5 million against this bill are the big beverage producers such as Coca-Cola, Polar Beverages and Ocean Spray.
